From the Director

Dear Parents, Staff & Students,

Welcome to Lievens Academy, Lohardaga.

We are going through unusual times. The whole world is affected by the pandemic – COVID-19. Millions are down with this virus and thousands have lost their lives. The pandemic warriors- doctors, nurses, other medical personal, law enforcement agencies, administration etc are working day and night to contain this pandemic. We raise our hands in salute to them and our hearts in prayer for their safety. Our hearts go out to all those who lost their means of livelihood- the daily labourers, the migrant workers, the less fortunate and all those who are away from their homes. We have shown courage and unity by lending our support by following the instructions of our government.

The world is going through a crisis , but it depend on us to make this an opportunity.

“STAY HOME- BE SAFE”, “BREAK THE CHAIN”- we have taken it to our hearts. We are learning to be better hygienic- wearing face masks, washing hands often, not spitting around, sanitizing the surrounding etc. We are bonding with the family members and spending qualitative time with our dear ones, getting back to nature and learning to live with less. We are giving to the nature a freshness which the parched environment was longing for. We have cleaner air, cleaner rivers and there is rejuvenation in the environment.

It is also a call for a serious introspection about our lives ant its values. It is a call to be compassionate- to alleviate the human suffering through kindness, patience and courage.

During this lock down, we have missed many school days. Our teachers are reaching out to the students with home works, on line classes etc. to help them to cover the syllabus. The parents, in the midst of this struggle, are helping their children to spend their time in studies.

The School management is with you all in this time of pandemic. We have reached out to the less fortunate of the society by helping them with provisions etc. Let our hearts reach out to those around us with a helping hand to those in need.

We are not alone and isolated when God lives in our hearts and souls.

God bless you all. Stay safe.

Fr. Thomas Powathil
